I am a mother of three, which is a nice way of saying I never have time for myself. I am constantly looking for easy snacks I can take on the go. Between running the kids to school, daycare, going to work, picking them back up and extra after-school activities, A Girl Must Eat! I thought moms all over would appreciate this post.

  1. Smoothies

I love smoothies because they are easy, can be diverse, and wonderful to take on the go. I like that they can be prepared the night before and in the morning I stick them in the freezer. I often prepare them in an old school mason jars. I take them out to thaw an hour before I leave. I also love to add a couple of scoops of organic protein powder. When adding the protein powder, this smoothie will sustain my appetite until lunchtime. In case, you were wondering Strawberry-Banana is my favorite smoothie.

2. Breakfast Bars

I like to throw a breakfast bar in my purse and one for my toddler. Kashi strawberry breakfast bars are my go-to. It is full of 11g whole grain and 3g fiber, your digestive tract will thank you later. They remind me of going to a café like Panera’s Bakery but half the cost.

3. Veggie Cups

Veggie cups aren’t just for kids, moms can get their nutrients on the go too. I am very simple, no ranch just carrots and sweet peppers. However, you can use any veggies you like but be careful adding dips and dressings. They can turn a nice healthy snack to a high-calorie bad snack. If you need to dip you can buy organic no sugar added Justin’s almond butter.

4. Dry fruit and Nuts

I will buy organic fruit and nuts separate and in bulk. If you have a Costco or Sam’s membership this might be a good place to get them. I always stock up on sandwich bags, they come in handy. I will make up enough for me and the kids’ lunch. Then I will store them in the pantry. I also just grab them on the way out and you know I throw them in my purse too.

5. Fruit Water

Ok, after all these snacks I am pretty sure your mouth is dry, and you will need to hydrate your body from running all day. I use alkaline water, or your choice of any bottled water and I add cucumbers. Cucumbers are my personal choice because it adds a nice refreshing taste. You can use any fruit you desire.

Thank you for these insightful snacks! Although, I do have one question. How do you feel about including some essential oils into the smoothie or dip recipe? I want to try and utilize these essential oils I got, but I want to maximize on its use.
