Yoga is my go-to every night when I get home from work. It helps me to relax and heal my pain & aches. There are other great benefits like improving your flexibility, builds muscle strength, protects your spine, increase blood flow, helps build your immune system to fight infections, make you happier, and improve your mental health, just to name a few… Basically, yoga can benefit everyone. As a mom, we deal with physical and mental stress daily. Stress from our jobs, parenting, finance, marriage and daily task that must be done. Yoga can keep you looking younger by reducing the way your body process stress. The only issue is fitting the time into the busy schedule of moms. Join a yoga class or group of friends
By joining a yoga class or getting together with a group of friends, this will make it fun and you are more likely to stay committed. I started doing yoga at Lifetime fitness, it was fun and peaceful. I had the instructor helping me as well as correcting my poses. They will give an advance pose and an option for beginners. Lifetime fitness has childcare, a private, quiet room for yoga, instructors are friendly and more perks. Another option is Classpass, a website that will help you find and book a yoga class with your membership. Your membership can be used in 2,500 cities and there is a plan where you can invite friends. Try the free trial for Lifetime fitness and/or Classpass to see if it’s right for you.

Purchase yoga equipment
Purchasing equipment is fun and it helps make you more committed. If you invest in anything it means you are more serious. Buy yoga clothes, a mat, a yoga bag, and make sure you are excited about the purchase you made. Don’t break the bank but make sure you are happy with the choice

Yoga at Home
So, I realize going to a yoga studio is not for everyone. I loved going to the yoga studio, but it didn’t fit into my lifestyle. I work full time; I am a graduate student and blogger. When I have extra time, I prefer to spend it with my children. I do yoga at home sometimes along, with my husband and/ or children. This allows me to fit in my yoga and spend time with my family. I like to use YouTube: Yoga with Adriene. She was the video that taught me a lot about yoga and now her channel has blossom. She has many videos on different poses to help different issues. She has my favorite, yoga for lower back pain. You can target different parts like core strength or focus on flexibility. Yoga for beginners is a free app that focuses on daily poses and the nice part is it’s only 6-10 minutes of your time. Which brings me to my next tip.

Manage yoga time
A lot of moms believe they must spend a lot of time each day on yoga. I believe you should set a reasonable and realistic goal. It should be based on your lifestyle and your target goal. For example:
Working or busy moms– might want to do your yoga on apps like Yoga for beginners or Youtube video for 6-10 minutes daily. They have 15 – minute yoga videos on Youtube as well. This is the option I take during the workweek.
Mom with more time– I would recommend going to a yoga studio and taking a longer session for 1hr daily or 3 times a day.
Pregnant or new moms– so get your doctor’s approval before working out (same if you have a previous injury) I worked out before pregnancy and continued while pregnant. Yoga helped my pelvis open and increased my flexibility, making the birthing experience better. The amount of time will vary on the person, I would start slowly with the 6- 10 minutes a day and gradually increase your time.
* Yoga pose for pregnancy- is the yoga squat (my favorite)
As a beginner, I would write my goal down and make it obtainable. Start off easy and don’t be afraid to buy fun and helpful yoga products. Venture off into yoga studios and apps to help guide you through your yoga experience. Once you start you will enjoy the experience. Commit below and share your 1st yoga experience. I love to hear them.
